Featureless Rocks (2025) is a collection of man-made rocks. Made with a combination of different material and intertwined with photos of places that have been the backdrop of an artist’s world, grounding them. The different materials symbolising different locations that hold meaning for the artist, becoming a mosaic of rocks. By intricately incorporating photos into each rock, the artwork invites intimate inspection. This intimacy is counteracted with the ambiguity and imperfection of the photos, an amalgamation of the artist’s physical landscapes. The layered, textural quality of each rock when paired with the distorted photographs symbolises the imprint each location has left on the artist. The heaviness of the rocks attempting to illustrate the grounding force of place in identity and the areas carved out in the heart especially for these places. Their solidity emphasising the emotional weight that anchors these sites.
